Startgate Universe is set in the reality of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, though it is not set in any particular timeframe. Thus you might see Ori and their Priors while the Goa'uld still hold great power. If you're a fan of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, you probably know a great deal about the setting of SGU. I won't go into details about the shows, Gateworld has done that well enough.
